Why do I need a VSA licensed sound therapist?

Sound Therapy is a fast growing relaxation modality that is still in its infancy.  The goal of the VSA Licensed Vibrational Sound Therapist Board is to bring legitimacy to the community and encourage state and federal governments to offer this in the future.
Licensing is not currently required by any state or federal government.  By choosing a VSA Licensed Vibrational Sound Therapist you can be confident in the knowledge your practitioner has completed the VST certification program, has a commitment to continuing education, has current liability insurance, and has passed a thorough background check.

Why is it important that my
sound therapist be licensed by the VSA?

Vibrational Sound Association (VSA) is the only licensing board for Vibrational Sound Therapy. As an international organization, we care deeply about the modality of Vibrational Sound Therapy. We seek to advance the modality so that it's credible, reputable, and ever-evolving. We care about the modality, our students, and their clients.

As such, we want every potential VST client to be able to find a credible and reputable practitioner.

Choosing a VSA licensed sound therapist means the person administering therapy to you has done all of the following: undergone an intensive 6-day training, passed an exam afterward, submitted to and passed a criminal background check that includes medical licensures and sex offender registries, obtained liability insurance, committed to and completed the continuing education requirements of the VSA licensure process, and been further vetted by our organization's instructors and board of directors.

The criminal background check we run on every licensed sound therapists includes:
  • FACIS III - The Fraud and Control Information System (FACIS) is a database search of records containing adverse actions against individuals and entities sanctioned in the healthcare field
  • SSN Verification - This search confirms name, aliases, and all associated counties based on a specific Social Security Number. This helps us comb criminal databases and verify identity
  • Nationwide Criminal Databases Search - This search combs county-by-county arrest and conviction databases nationwide
  • Sex Offender Registry Search - Searching all US states and territories for individuals charged with crimes of a sexual nature

Our licensed sound therapists are the best of the best in the sound therapy world.

What happens during a Vibrational Sound Therapy (VST) session?

Picture

Meditation & Mindfulness

After you're comfortable on the massage table, your VSA Licensed Sound Therapist will ask you to set an intention for your session. Whether it is simply reducing your stress, letting go of something that's been plaguing your mind, or attaining a general sense of peace, this intention will act as the mental anchor for your entire session. You can tell your practitioner your intention so they can use the same intention, or keep it to yourself.

VST is a deeply meditative experience, and being mindful of your body, mind, breath and personal intention will enhance your relaxation experience. Mindfulness has been proven to be an effective antidote to depression and anxiety symptoms caused by prolonged exposure to stress.

Sound & Vibration

Using techniques mastered during intensive classroom instruction, your VSA Licensed Sound Therapist will use sound and vibration to melt your stress away.

By strategically and intentionally placing therapeutic-grade singing bowls on your body and using gentle measured strikes with a mallet, the practitioner sends soothing vibrations deep into muscle tissue, while the pleasant harmonic tones lull you into a deep state of peace.

The vibrations from the bowls increase blood flow to major muscles, reduce muscle tension, and gently reduce chronic pain.
The gentle tone helps to focus our minds, fostering stronger concentration and balanced moods while reducing fatigue.

"There is a life-force within your soul, seek that life.
There is a gem in the mountain of your body, seek that mine.
O traveller, if you are in search of that, don’t look outside.
Look inside yourself and seek that.”
